Burqin


The Fair Trade company is at Burqin only a short distance from the traditional site of Jesus' cure of ten lepers (only one local Samaritan of whom came back to give him thanks)...


... where what was taken in the fourth century to be their cave was incorporated as a sort of 'side aisle' of a church built up against it...


... where this apparently breeze block icon screen divides the cave into what in our terms are sanctuary / side chapel and aisle...


 ... in what is claimed to be the third oldest church in the world, including this very early Bishop's chair (unusual in being of stone)...


... of which this is one of the 'animal head' style hand rests.
